Description

Along with feta cheese, olives and eggs, sweet peppers, tomatoes and cucumber are staple breakfast components in Turkey. Also known as Mazamort, Tatlı Üçburun is a sweet pepper variety that is part of the breakfast tradition. Fruits have thin flesh, and are crunchy and delicious. This variety resembles Shishito but fruits are bigger than those of Shishito. Plants are prolific.

We expect Tatlı Üçburun sweet pepper to quickly become one of the favorite CSA varieties for farmers across the U.S. in a few years.

Our current seed stock was grown by the farmers at Uprising Seeds in Bellingham, WA. Many thanks to co-owner and seed grower Brian Campbell who have been very supportive to our company.

Packet has min. 20 seeds

Commercially introduced by us in the U.S.

  • Growing tips: Start pepper seeds indoors in seedling trays or small seedling pots seedling trays in seed starting soil that has essential nutrients in it 8-10 weeks prior to last frost. Keep the soil moist for quick germination. Make sure to keep the young pepper seedlings under good light to have strong plants with sturdy, healthy stems and leaves. Transplant after last frost in well-drained, fertile soil enrichened with compost and other amendments. Feed your pepper plants with liquid fertilizer once every two weeks. Water regularly especially in flower stage. Mulch and always water at plant base to minimize disease. Some pepper varieties are taller than others and may need to be tied to a stake so that fruits don’t touch soil and rot.

Plants were productive, usually producing 2-3 ready at a time over the summer. These were very tasty and we found that, unlike bell peppers, they did not produce digestive upset in our family. We ate these both green and red since the description did not specify when to harvest.
