Traditional pole green bean from Western Turkey. Wide pods can be harvested like a snap bean. They can also be picked as they form seeds like a shelling bean. Purple-seeded Çalı is a great choice for stews and pickling.

Planted 7/15/26 – so far just plants growing up tepee – no flowers or beans. Location is Lubbock Tx.
They are not the only beans I’m growing at this time. The other beans are also slow to produce this year.
Will replant next growing season and evaluate them again.
