Very flavorful greasy bean from Haywood County, NC. Greasy beans typically lack the fuzz of commonly known bean varieties and have glossy skin. Pink-tip Greasy pods develop pink tips on flower end when mature. Plants have pole habit and are very productive. Traditionally used to make leather britches in Appalachia.

West Virginia heirloom bean with excellent flavor and yield. Typically used as a green bean to make Appalachian leather britches. Versatile variety that can be grown for its seeds. We commercially introduced this specific strain stewarded by Lou Mauri of Summersville, WV.
One of the most beautiful corn seeds we have ever grown. Blood-red/purple, occasionally interspersed with variations of blue. Two thick ears per stalk on average.

After a three season search for Appalachian pink tip seeds I was excited by heavy pod and bean production, but disappointed it was not the most flavorful local pink tip I was hoping for. With a pale yellow and slightly pink tipped pod, it was a round white bean with less flavor than what I’d wanted. A hearty soup bean I enjoyed, just not what I was expecting.
