110-120 days. Known to be originally from Virginia, Bloody Butcher is one of the most commonly grown dent corn varieties of West Virginia. We have come across various strains grown in the state. Plants typically get 10-12ft tall and usually produce two 6″-8″ stubby ears per stalk. At full maturity, seeds develop a beautiful color range from crimson red to black-ish red. Dry seeds make delicious cornbread. Red color doesn’t hold when baked.
Seed we offer in our catalog was shared with us by Mike Costello and Amy Dawson of Lost Creek Farm. Their seed source was originally late Steve Hicks, one of their neighbors in Lost Creek. You can support the amazing work they do on Patreon, join their supper club to taste the delicious food they offer on their farm in Lost Creek, WV, and follow their work @lostcreekfarm on Instagram.
Our current stock seed was grown on our seed farm in Reedsville, WV.

Continuously monitor for corn earworms to protect your crop. Avoid planting open-pollinated varieties closer than 1 mile distance to GMO corn, if any near your garden/farm.
