I’m super excited I found the website and that I won your sweepstakes on top of that.

Congratulations, Lauren! Please tell us how you found out our seeds.
I was specifically looking for İsot pepper seeds. I like to buy at smaller, more niche companies to try to grow varieties I have never heard of. I was looking for those peppers because I had Urfa biber compound butter a few years ago at a restaurant I never forgot about and still lives rent free in my head. On top of the fact I can’t find any whole dried peppers to try to make my own, even finding ground Urfa biber is very difficult.
Please tell us a bit about your growing conditions. Do you grow in pots or ground?
I grow on basically a little deck that faces north in mostly 3 gallon pots. I also just got some GreenStalk vertical planters last Christmas.
What is your main motivation to garden?
I mostly garden just cause I enjoy the thought of it, I’m not actually very good at my hobby. I just enjoy it. I don’t have the dedication and ruthlessness a true gardener has. Thinning perfectly good plants, watering while it’s too hot, and can’t be bothered to use sprays to control pest and diseases are some of my biggest downfalls. I might throw some fertilizer midsummer. If anything does well, I fear it is in spite of me.
What are your favorite plants to grow
I grow mostly herbs, tomatoes, and peppers due to the fact that my local grocery stores tend to only carry very basic versions and I have very limited space so they seem the most worth it. I dabble in edible flowers to spice it up and attract pollinators. It amuses me to eat very colorful salads.
What grows better than others in your garden?
Peppers do pretty well for how hands off I am with the plants. Tomatoes have a harder time with disease due to the small pots tightly packed next to each other and the high humidity. I actually get too much sun during the summer so I have to put up shade cloth against the afternoon light to keep from scorching. I do want to try to see if I can’t get melons in tomato cages and maybe some other things to grow in pots this summer.
Thank you for sharing with us and congratulations again!
Thank you so much and definitely will be back this fall/winter when I get too antsy for springtime.
