Commonly known as balsam, garden balsam, touch-me-not, and Rose Balsam, this flower is native to India and Myanmar. This is a rare flower to find in seed catalog these days.
Rose Balsam plants branch out, can reach 24-30″ in length, and have toothed leaves. Flowers have a mixed color range of lovely magenta, purple and lavender. Hardy plants thrive in fertile soil but also do well in a wide range of soil fertility. Plants are very ornamental and add texture to ends of vegetable beds. Flowers are very attractive to a diverse range of pollinators, including bees as well as to hummingbirds.
Our seeds came from farmer and seed grower, Lindsay Klaunig, who got her seeds in 2018 in West Virginia from a gardener who was growing the flowers in her garden.
Our current seed stock was grown by Lindsay Klaunig of Trouvaille Farm in Athens, OH.
