60 days. Translated as Speckled Trout, Forellenschluss lettuce develops purple patterns and speckles as the leaves get larger. Crispy leaves have a thick midrib and holds flavor even when the plants begin bolting. This lettuce excels in flavor and does better in cold weather than many other romaine varieties. A very attractive variety for market display. One of our favorite romaine lettuce varieties to grow.
Our current seed stock was grown by Hank Keogh and Jo Erikson of Avoca Seed in Corvallis, OR. Avoca Seed is certified organic by Oregon Tilth.

Although there are bolt-resistant varieties, spring and fall are the best seasons to grow lettuce for best eating quality.
