Commercially introduced by us
Phonetically pronounced:
A very rare yard-long bean variety from Çanakkale, Turkey. Prolific plants produce long pods with pitch black seeds. We first grew this seed about a decade ago in Florida, and since then have found out that they also do very well in West Virginia as well as in North Carolina where the bulk quantity of seeds for our catalog were grown.
It took us eight years as a small company to be able to offer this variety in our catalog as an Underrepresented Minoritized seed company since entities like us need to invest significantly more time and resources to become self-sustainable, build network and figure out business dynamics. BUT here we are, offering this beautiful seed now!
We were hoping to introduce this seed in 2022 but had a crop failure then. We are thrilled to offer it in our 2024 catalog!
Our current seed stock was grown by Chris Smith and Leeza Chen of The Utopian Seed Project in North Carolina.
