Description

Commercially introduced by us in the U.S.!

Phonetically pronounced:

This is another commonly grown and eaten summer squash in Turkey, due to its firm flesh, good flavor and thin skin. Fruits have dark green color with speckles. They are thinner than Kolsuz Sakız which makes them less ideal for stuffing but if you leave them a bit longer on the plants, you can also make  your stuffing recipes with them. This variety is great to use in olive-oil recipes that are served cold and to make mücver (i.e. squash fritter).

Kolsuz Kara is bush variety that requires 50-55 days from seeding to produce.

Our current seed stock was grown on Sylvan Roots Farm in Morgantown, WV.

Packet has 15 seeds

Germinated well, good, healthy, lush plants, but produced very few squash. Plenty of pollinators and good production from other plants nearby. Won’t use this one again.
