An old commercial greasy bean commonly used once by communities in Northwest Turkey. Wide bean pods develop purple hue as the seeds mature. Typically harvested when the stringless pods begin to swell almost like a shelling bean but to be used for the fresh pods in stews. Known with its flavor, hairless and glossy pods that lose gloss as the pods swell. Tozaklı greasy bean has been stewarded by our friend, Gökhan Erdinç, who was given the seeds by a villager in Tozaklı Village of Kaynarca, Kırklareli, Turkey. Pole and moderately productive. Outstanding flavor.
Our current seed stock was grown by Celeste Tannenbaum in Ohio.
