Description

50-55 days. Batavian/French crisp type lettuce with semi-open heads. Crunchy leaves form light green color and reddish tips. Flavor is excellent and never bitter in our experience. Sierra is one of the most heat & bolt resistant lettuce varieties we have ever grown. Heads hold very well even in the high heat of summer. This is a great lettuce for succession planting spring through summer.

Our current seed stock was grown by Hank Keogh and Jo Erikson of Avoca Seed in Corvallis, OR. Avoca Seed is certified organic by Oregon Tilth.

Packet has 0.5 gr (~500) seeds

  • Lactuca sativa
  • Need for sun: 6-8 hrs
  • Planting depth: 1/8″
  • Sprouts in 7-10 days
  • Ideal Growing Temperature: 60-80F
  • Plant Spacing: 8″
  • Frost hardy: Yes for light frost
  • Growth habit: Batavian
  • Growing tips: Sow in seedling tray to transplant in early spring or fall for full size heads. Keep sowing every two weeks for successive harvests. Most lettuce seeds except Batavian-type varieties can’t germinate well in high temperatures.
