Finally! We have been working on making this very rare tomato, originally from the town of Lice (Diyarbakır), East Turkey, available in our catalog since 2013. We now can offer its seeds, grown on our Reedsville, WV, farm.
Lice is an indeterminate variety that produces loads of fruits. Fruits ripen simultaneously and evenly to a crimson red color. Although its homeland is dry and hot, it did exceptionally well here.
Large, flat fruits of Lice are packed with rich tomato flavor. When you take a bit, you will first taste a rich acidity, then a complex, lingering flavor will hit the top of your mouth. Beautiful, deep red color and juicy texture also make it a great choice for sauces. We haven’t tried it, yet, but we think that this variety would also make excellent fermented or hot-brewed tomato paste.

I am giving a rating of 4 ONLY because I haven’t planted the seeds yet- shortly after receiving them we moved and are still working on the new garden beds. They arrived on time, and look to be great quality. I would love to update this review in the spring or early summer when I can give a proper review. Thank you!!
