Bursa Gelin dry bean stole our hearts a few years ago with its unique pink/purple coat that has striped patterns, easy-to-grow bush growth habit and good yield. This is a Turkish bush variety from Bursa that thrived in our West Virginia field. Every dry bean enthusiast should taste this bean’s outstanding, buttery flavor!
Gelin means “bride” in Turkish, and is commonly used in villages as part of seed naming traditions; in this case as part of the name of a bean. Seeds that has Gelin in their name are also typically part of bridal gift packages on the countryside.
