Kırmızı Göbekli Bobo dry bean is one of the most beautiful beans we have ever seen and grown. A signature variety of Bursa, Turkey, this shelling bean is also known as İnkaya.
Large seeds are commonly used to make delicious pilaki, a very common way of cooking barbunya-type beans in Turkey. Typically sold by small farmers in fresh pods, ready to be shelled in Bursa’s late summer farmers’ markets. Plants need trellising and are very productive.
Many thanks to my cousin, Ayşegül Küçükgöçmen, who sourced this variety through one of her friends in Bursa after I searched for it for years. Photo by
