Seed Crop 2018
1884 Purple was the earliest tomato in our fall garden. Large fruits are juicy yet meaty with great flavor. Growth habit for this very productive variety was somewhere between determinate and indeterminate for us. Many thanks to Steve McClaren from Heritage Tomato Seeds who donated the seeds for this great variety to us.

I received these seeds in 2018 for free from Two Seeds in a Pod, with an order. I grew them in 2019. I will be planting them again. The plant is somewhat heat resistant and did well in the wonky 2019 growing season. It set fruit when other varieties were suffering from blossom drop in the Utah summer heat. The fruit is prone to cracking and the flavor of the earlier season fruit was meh. The end of season fruit though! WOW! Slap your mama delicious! Sweet and savory, all rolled into one.
I love this company! I had a catastrophic failure on another tomato variety. My failure, not theirs. I went to buy some replacement seeds and they were out of stock. I emailed them and they were kind enough to send me more when they had enough to produce more seed stock. So kind!
