Description

Very productive heirloom variety known to have been developed and stewarded by the Cherokee Nation and dates to early 1800’s. Widely grown in various parts of Appalachia, North Georgia, Southern Tennessee, and Southwestern North Carolina.

Banana-shaped, long fruits have delicious, sweet flavor which is great for pies and roasting. Fruits usually weigh 10-15 lbs. Pick when they are 18-20″.

Our current seed stock was grown by Tom Wahlberg of Decorah, IA. He was also one of the former seed house managers of Seed Savers Exchange.
