Commercially introduced by the Seed Savers Exchange, Whittemore is a pink heirloom tomato, and originally from Virginia. Seeds were donated to SSE by Edley Bellamy who received his seeds from Oscar Gibson in 1973. Fruit flavor is very well-balanced, and perfect for fresh-eating. This variety has a very well-balanced, old-time tomato flavor. Fruits were in the range of 1-1 1/2 lb for us. Plants produced a moderate count of fruits in 75-80 days after transplanting. Overall, this is a great choice as a slicer, and we highly recommend it if you can’t wait too long to eat large tomatoes in summer.
