Commercially introduced by us
Phonetically pronounced:
Bursa Gelin stole our hearts a few years back with its unique pink/purple coat with striped patterns, easy-to-grow bush growth habit and good yield. This is a Turkish bush bean from Bursa which thrived in our West Virginia field, and we are able to bring the seeds to your garden after a bountiful bean harvest this year. Every bean enthusiast should taste this bean’s outstanding buttery flavor!
Gelin means “bride” in Turkish, and can be seen used in villages as part of seed names as a category to refer to seeds that are part of bridal gift packages in rural Turkey. On the other hand, derogatory, misogynistic seed names such as L*zy Wife are common in commercial seed catalogs, and we won’t offer such varieties in our catalog.
Our current seed stock was grown by Lindsay Klaunig of Trouvaille Farm in Ohio.
