Garlic

Allium sativum

Native to Central Asia, garlic is one of the most widely grown culinary plants in home gardens and on farms today.

Two main garlic categories are hardneck and softneck garlic. Hardneck garlic produces flower stalks known as scapes a few weeks prior to the formation of the bulbs. This type of garlic offers a wider range of flavors. Softneck garlic doesn’t produce scapes, has more cloves per bulb and are stores better while they aren’t as easy to peel as hardneck garlic.
