Phonetically pronounced: ar-shun
Arşın is a yard-long bean from Western Turkey. 15-20” pods are delicious in salads. Seeds are light brown. Productive plants are ready to harvest in 70-80 days. Arşın did very well in our Florida garden during the peak time of heat and humidity. Seeds are brown. This variety needs trellising.
Arşın was a length unit used during Ottoman Empire times and was equal to 68 cm.

Gardening In The Desert (verified owner) –
If you are in a dry really hot area, this is an excellent choice. They are really productive, the more you pick, the more they produce. The plants get really tall, so good tall staking is required. They do better with some extra water in the extreme desert heat (Phoenix, AZ), but they also continued to produce right into December when a frost finally took them out. I planted in September during our monsoon season.
